Veronica Furnari-Berg, MPH, is a Project Manager for the California Department of
Health Care Services (DHCS), Benefits Division and Every Woman Counts (EWC)
program. EWC focuses on breast and cervical cancer awareness, prevention and care
for uninsured and underinsured priority populations, throughout California.
Mrs. Furnari-Berg is a strategic and visionary leader, championing health equity through
the development and implementation of cancer-related legislation, policies, and
initiatives that aligne with both federal and state laws and standards. Her work
emphasizes outreach to underserved populations, fostering partnerships with
community-based organizations to promote cancer education and prevention. She
identifies policy opportunities to expand access to services. While collaborating with
government entities, cancer advocacy groups, and the DHCS Breast and Cervical
Cancer Advisory Council, she reinforces her deep commitment to equitable healthcare
throughout California.
Her distinguished career spans key leadership and analytical roles in cancer prevention,
focus on breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancer initiatives. As a Program
Director for the California Colon Cancer Control Program, at the California Department
of Public Health, she conducted in-depth research, performed policy analysis, and
authored mandated legislative reports. Her work demonstrates a commitment to
advancing cancer awareness, improving screening, and data-driven health policies.
As a DHCS Wellness Ambassador volunteer, she brings purpose and support to
employee wellbeing. She’s a trusted resource and compassionate, about setting
environmental, social, nutritional and physical activity goals and objectives. Outside of
work, she enjoys traveling to new places, immersing herself in live music, and creating
new memories with her husband and two daughters.
