Daniel Rivas is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in community and population health. His career and research interests are deeply rooted in these fields, with a strong emphasis on developing and executing impactful engagement strategies. Daniel is passionate about leveraging data and insights to identify opportunities for enhanced engagement and impact. His expertise lies in leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and building relationships with key stakeholders to drive positive social impact and improve community health outcomes.
Throughout his career, Daniel has been dedicated to advancing health initiatives, addressing disparities, and integrating various health components to create comprehensive solutions. His focus has always been on ensuring that innovative practices and research are applied effectively to improve overall health and wellness. As the Senior Manager of Community Health at Blue Shield of California (BSC), Daniel excelled in creating and implementing impactful engagement strategies. His notable achievements include a multimillion-dollar health equity initiative for COVID testing and vaccinations across multiple counties, focused on closing vaccine gaps among BSC's most impacted communities. He has also held significant roles at Covered California, managing over $23 million in grants and leading efforts to educate and enroll consumers. At Richard Heath and Associates, he oversaw major ACA outreach and education initiatives. Daniel's early career includes key positions in LGBTQI2S+ advocacy, HIV whole-person care and services, and administering unemployment insurance claims during one of the state's highest unemployment periods.
With advanced degrees in Organizational Leadership from Los Angeles Pacific University and Azusa Pacific University, Daniel is also certified in Family Planning Education, HIV Pre/Post Test Counseling, STD Partner Counseling and Referral, and Phlebotomy. He is actively involved in community service as a Board Member of Bienestar Human Services, an active PTA President, and a past Community Council Member of ACEs Aware.
