Darryl Wong, BA, MPH

Darryl Wong, MPH, is a retired City Research Scientist from the NYC Department of Health and; Mental

Hygiene living with his long-term partner in Walnut Creek since 2023. Having served in the Division

of Infectious Diseases/Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment and; Care for three decades during

the height of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, he brings strong management, administrative and; leadership

experience in the areas of public health outreach, testing, access to/retention in care, quality

management and strategic planning. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Lesbian and;

Gay Community Services Center, the Asian/Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS (APICHA) and the

National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA).

Most recently, he served as Deputy Director of the HRSA-funded New York HIV Health and; Human

Service to insure that meaningful consumer engagement, input and; feedback was included in the

funding, planning and delivery of services for NYC’s Ryan White Part A clients.

Having had a sigmoidectomy after his early-stage colon cancer diagnosis in late 2024, Darryl is a

client of the Bay Area/SF Cancer Support Community and was featured as the Mission Moment

Speaker at CSC’s annual gala in September 2025. He is now working closely with CSC leadership in

developing the Participant Voice Collaborative (PVC) for the agency and its clients.
