Margaret Hitchcock, PhD

California Colorectal Cancer Coalition

Margaret Hitchcock, PhD is a founding board member of the California Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C4), serving as Vice President. She chairs and administers the C4 Community Grants program for improving colorectal cancer screening and care in California. She is also a principal investigator/program director at the Public Health Institute, allowing her to continue with her research interests focusing on developing ways to optimize the continuum of care for colorectal cancer. Her interests aim to optimize the patient-physician interaction to improve screening rates, but to also improve data collection at all phases of screening and treatment through a patient-centered approach. An additional goal is to improve data collection opportunities throughout the care continuum. Dr. Hitchcock served as co-chair of the research, surveillance and evaluation team within the California Dialogue on Cancer (CDOC) and is an ongoing member of the executive committee. She is three-time cancer survivor (melanoma, and primary + recurrent triple negative breast cancer) and would prefer to spend the next 60 years of her life without additional cancer challenges.
