Maritza Gomez

UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center

Maritza received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and spent time working at an Oakland health non-profit dedicated to providing education and mentorship for students of color interested in pursuing a career in health. Since transitioning to her role as the community health liaison for the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, she has worked on delivering cancer prevention education to the wider San Diego community with a goal of addressing cancer disparities and inequities. This fall, she will begin a Masters in Public Health program at Boston University with a focus on health equity, aiming to deepen her understanding of social factors influencing health and how to better address the needs of those most affected by health disparities.
